Adventist Health, Hybrid OR & Cath Lab Suite, St. Helena, California

This complex renovation in an occupied facility included two large labs, 14 post-operative and pre-operative bays, and various support functions.

The construction phase was successfully executed under an ICU floor and over an existing cath lab/ OR suite. Significant logistics planning was required to sequence construction in the project areas, which was located between critical care floors. We ensured air circulation, power, plumbing, and other infrastructure remained fully functional during construction. The GC built a temporary air-handler within part of the new space to provide air to the spaces above and below. The general contractor was engaged early to start logistics planning, understand operational requirements, and investigate existing conditions. Due to a local forest fire that shut the project down, the project team had to reset the schedule. After resuming, the job was completed successfully.
